Get Fit Kentucky wants to invite you to train as a group on the race course on what we call our “Super Saturdays!” We have some really fantastic trainers this year helping to enhance your training and racing experience! We have: Gary Ervin: triathlete and 2 time Amazing Race participant. Terry Harmon: triathlete, maximized living chiropractor, and official chiropractor for the National Wrestling, Judo and Weightlifting Teams. and Introducing Bridgett Roberts: Morganfield's only Iron Man finisher (Louisville, KY).
Beginning April 21, 2012, we will be hosting training days that will allow you to train with these amazing athletes and become familiar with the race course! You can come at any of the given start times, however, please note some exceptions! The dates and times are as follows:
April 21
Course Overview and Training
Swim will begin at 8:00 am. (Wet suits are suggested!) Shallow water short swim; parallel to beach!
If you are training for the Duathlon, then you will begin your first run at this time!
Bike will begin immediately after the swim/run (This will be an easy group ride, where you will meet “the hill”
Run will begin after the bike. (3.1 mile training run)
April 28
Swim area open from 8:00 am (there will not be any lifeguards or rescue divers; we suggest a wetsuit) Shallow water short swim; parallel to beach! Run will begin from transition area.
Bike/Run brick begins after the swim (we will transition from the bike straight into the run)
May 5
Swim area open at 8:00 am (there will not be any lifeguards or rescue divers; we suggest a wetsuit) Shallow water short swim; parallel to beach! Runners will begin running from the transition area.
Bike will begin after the swim (this ride will include a 4 mile ride to the hill, 3 hill repeats, then a 4 mile ride back to Moffits)
Run begins after the bike
May 12
Swim training will be the emphasis begins at 8 am (the full swim course will be set up! Wet Suits are suggested!)
Duathlon participants can begin their run when the swimmers begin.
Bike/Run brick begins immediately after the swim(we will transition from the bike straight into the run)
May 19 and May 26
Full Course!!! We will be timing! Start time will be at 8:00 am. We will not have lifeguards or rescue divers! You can still participate in the bike and run portion if you choose not to swim, just show up at the swim start time!
These trainings will begin at 8:00 am and will end by 11:00 am. The park will be closing to us at 11:00 am. Please meet in the transition area for all of the trainings! (Transition area is close to the playground.
